Wolf started his career when he began working as an advertising copywriter at Benton & Bowles. He made many commercials introducing slogans for brands like ‘Crest toothpaste’ and ‘National Airlines’. Though he was a successful copywriter, he always wanted to work as a screenwriter so kept writing screenplays and collaborated with Oliver Stone who was a struggling screenwriter at the time.

His other series include “New York Undercover” and “Crime & Punishment”. In 2003, the short documentary “Twin Towers” was released which was made in his production and won an Academy Award. He also worked on a documentary with the band “The Doors”. He produced the spin-off series called “Law & Order: Organized Crime” in 2020 and another installment of the franchise called “Law & Order: Hate Crimes” was also released on ‘Peacock’. The other two shows “Chicago Med” and “Chicago P.D. ‘s Wake” were released in 2015 and 2017. He produced the CBS drama “FBI” and its two spin-offs “FBI: Most Wanted”, and “FBI: International”.

His other works include his unscripted show “Cold Justice” (2012) and his written novels “The Intercept”, “The Execution”, and “The Ultimatum”. He is currently working on the American adaptation of the British drama “Injustice”. He also revealed that he sometimes discusses the future of the “Law & Order” franchise with Warren Leight. In 2021, the docuseries of the shows “LA Fire” and “Rescue” were ordered and would be produced by Wolf.
